In our second year of competition, the Mon Valley Equestrian Team has enjoyed a lot of success.  With only half of the season over, three of our high school riders have already qualified for Regionals and several others are very close to acquiring the necessary points.  Lena Coltogirone is qualified in Varsity Intermediate Over Fences and Brooke Kulasa is qualified in Varsity Intermediate on the Flat.  Marisa Deichert rounds out our qualifiers and will be showing at Regionals in Junior Varsity Beginner Walk, Trot, Canter.  Our team has placed progressively higher at each show, with the High School placing 3rd at the November Grier School horse show and the Middle School team placing 3rd the week before at  the Zone 3 Ridge Riders show.

Interscholastic Riding

Riders on the Mon Valley Equestrian Team compete against other equestrians in the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania area.  Instead of bringing their own horses to the shows, riders compete on unknown horses provided by the hosting team.  Horses are assigned randomly to riders, insuring that the competition is a true test of riding skills.  We compete at 5 shows per season, with the aim being to qualify the team and individual riders for the Zone (held in NJ) and National Finals (held in Syracuse, NY) Shows.
